Ieva Saudargaitė Douaihi | Sub Tattoo, 2024Dictionary of past and current self explores the synthesis of personal memories and the aggregation of experiences. The work takes from the artist's own memories, from her childhood to her current roles as a mother, lover, and life partner. Saudargaite Douaihi foraged materials and objects that evoke past feelings and imagery and added additional layers to them –from imprints of her and her loved onesʼ bodies, to kidsʼ art supplies and beauty products. These composite objects become curious hybrids, both intimate and foreign as represented by their natural and man-made duality.
