collab. Ieva Saudargaitė Douaihi

Ieva Saudargaitė Douaihi (b. 1988) is a multi-disciplinary artist working with photography, installation and various media. She studied architecture at the Lebanese American University in Byblos and École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris; she grew up between Lithuania, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon.

Her work is influenced by her background in architecture, a profound fascination with the built and natural environments as well as different layers of street life. Having grown up between fundamentally different geographies, Lithuania, UAE and Lebanon, Ieva developed an early interest in the intricate interplay between space, environment and human interaction. She has been living and working in Lebanon since 2007.

Drawing inspiration from the urban and natural landscape surrounding her, ieva’s practice seeks to uncover the layers of history, culture, ecology and experiences embedded within. Experimenting with a diverse range of mediums - from image-making to mixed media and digital art - she pushes the boundaries of traditional techniques to create multi-dimensional artworks that elevate the mundane or the seemingly coincidental. Lately, she has been exploring working with found objects and plant matter gathered in the city in combination with photography and drawing.

In 2021, she co-founded Digital Fountain, an online platform for photography from Lebanon. In 2022, she established Takeover, an artist-led project space in Beirut. She is also a member of the Lebanese photography collective Collectif ١٢٠٠
