Liane Mathes Rabbath (b. 1963, Luxembourg) is a Luxembourg-born, Lebanon-based visual artist whose practice explores the relationship between material, memory, place, and cultural transmission. Working primarily with Damascus rolling paper, she has developed a distinctive technique of cutting, folding, rolling, and layering paper into intricate compositions that move between abstraction, geometry, and ornament.

Her practice is rooted in a dialogue between different cultural and visual traditions, drawing on the history of paper, Islamic geometry, calligraphy, and architectural forms while transforming these references into a contemporary visual language. Fragile yet meticulously constructed, her works reflect on the passage of time, the preservation of cultural memory, and the ways in which inherited forms can be reinterpreted and renewed.

Based in Lebanon since 2000, Rabbath has exhibited extensively in Lebanon and internationally, including in Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, and the United Arab Emirates. Her work has been presented at Beirut Art Fair and the Sursock Museum in Beirut, as well as in exhibitions in Paris, Venice, Lausanne, Bourglinster, and Monaco. Her work is held in private and institutional collections in Lebanon and abroad.

Rabbath’s practice occupies a space between craft and contemporary art, transforming an inherently delicate material into works of remarkable density, precision, and visual complexity.
