The form absorbs its own individuality, alone, away, and orphaned. Remembrance becomes the only way back, folding the self and the other into moments of stillness. To inhabit those moments, at once refuge and rupture, I return to two recalls: from childhood, lying above a metal plate I believed concealed a crocodile; and more recently, witnessing a bird impossibly high, suspended in the sky. One imagined as real, the other real as imagined, remnants of factual fantasy. This final state of remembrance is but a myth, both imprint and erasure, severed from its source yet continually inscribed.
